Biomass is the energy produced from materials of organic origin, such as residues of agricultural crops and forestry operations, by-products of agricultural industries, animal waste, the organic part of municipal waste and energy crops.
Biomass in Greece is characterized by a diversity of raw materials, with a local character of concentration, and can have multiple uses depending on the type and the possibilities of its final utilization (production of thermal and electrical energy, liquid biofuels, etc.).
